Elena Gorlenko

Elena is a printmaker from Toronto, Canada. She creates primarily linocuts. In creating relief prints, she uses carving tools to gauge away un-printed areas from linoleum blocks, leaving the elevated areas that would receive and transfer ink to the paper. ​ “I endeavour to create ornate storytelling images for slow viewing. Many of my works are deeply inspired by my travels around the world, my love of nature, literature and jazz music. Apart from traditional relief printing, I often enjoy creating subtle sub-layers for additional story-telling through blind embossing techniques in my prints".  ​ She is a member of Open Studio, a charitable, non-profit, artist-run centre in Toronto.
