Elena, a printmaker based in Toronto, divides her time between her homes in Canada and Berlin, Germany. She is a member of Open Studio, a charitable, non-profit, artist-run centre in Toronto.
“I strive to craft intricately detailed images for contemplative viewing. Much of my work is influenced by my global travels and reverence for nature. My prints celebrate the beauty of form and texture while delving into the dynamic interplay between nature and pattern imagery. Through linocut and often blind emboss processes, I employ intricate yet expressive lines to instil depth and richness into my artwork”

Heart and soul
When did you start making art, and why?
When I left the business world and moved to Canada. I always had a desire to explore and tap into my creativity but was 'always too busy'. Appreciation of Art and creativity have now become an essential part of my well-being. The urge to create compelled me to take classes at the Ottawa School of Art and since then I've never stopped. I actually feel anxious and uneasy when I'm not creating.
