Artist member since 2019
Elena is a local printmaker who enjoys splitting her time between her two homes in Toronto, Canada and Berlin, Germany. She is a member of Open Studio, a charitable, none-profit, artist-run Centre in Toronto. “I endeavour to create ornate storytelling images for slow viewing. Many of my works are deeply inspired by my travels around the world and my love of nature. Apart from traditional relief printing and reduction linocut, I often enjoy creating subtle sub-layers for additional story-telling through an embossing technique in my prints”.

Heart and soul
When did you start making art, and why?
When I left the business world and moved to Canada. I always had a desire to explore and tap into my creativity but was 'always too busy'. Appreciation of Art and creativity have now become an essential part of my well-being. The urge to create compelled me to take classes at the Ottawa School of Art and since then I've never stopped. I actually feel anxious and uneasy when I'm not creating.
